Kaal Sarp Dosha (also spelled Kalsarp) is formed when all seven planets (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn) are hemmed between Rahu (North Node) and Ketu (South Node) in a birth chart. This creates a serpent-like grip on the horoscope, symbolising karmic debts from past lives that manifest as recurring obstacles, fears, and struggles in the present life.
Types of Kaal Sarp Dosha
There are 12 types of Kaal Sarp Dosha, named after different serpents, each affecting different life areas depending on the Rahu–Ketu axis:
- Anant Kaal Sarp (1st–7th house) — Affects personality, self-confidence, and partnerships.
- Kulik Kaal Sarp (2nd–8th house) — Impacts finances, family harmony, and longevity concerns.
- Vasuki Kaal Sarp (3rd–9th house) — Influences courage, siblings, and fortune/higher learning.
- Shankhpal Kaal Sarp (4th–10th house) — Affects domestic peace, property, and career.
- Padma Kaal Sarp (5th–11th house) — Impacts children, education, creativity, and income.
- Maha Padma Kaal Sarp (6th–12th house) — Relates to enemies, debts, health issues, and spiritual liberation.
The remaining 6 types are the reverse (Ketu-to-Rahu) forms of the above, carrying similar but subtly different energies.
